    Not Too Proud to Beg

    http://lawmummy.com/ not-too-proud-to-beg

Earlier today, I got an email notification that taxgirl was named as one of the 2008 ABA Journal Blawg 100! And I’m not too proud to beg, so um, here goes: taxgirl has been nominated in the “niche” category by the editors of the ABA Journal but now it’s up to readers to vote. I’d really appreciate your votes.

Bits and Pieces for $50, Alex

    http://legalschnauzer.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 11/ bits-and-pieces-for-50-alex.html

Are Southerners Hell Bent on Marginalizing Themselves? The answer to our title question appears to be a resounding yes, based on an article by Adam Nossiter of The New York Times. The piece is datelined Vernon, Alabama, and it is a compelling and disturbing read about the mindset of white Southerners.Nossiter reports that almost 90 percent of white voters went for McCain in Alabama.

From Power Line: Unfortunately, it may well be the case that [Paul] Krugman won his award [this year, in Economics] due at least in part to his left-wing, anti-Bush commentary. Every year, we have occasion to note the leftist bias of the Nobel awards.

    http://glennsacks.com/ blog/ ?p=2716

"These data, drawn from a nationally representative sample rather than from a pre-selected sample...give a very different picture of risk to children than that presented by the sources cited on the ABA Website." The American Bar Association (ABA) has set out to help divorcing women who make allegations of domestic violence or child sexual abuse against their husbands during custody battles.

It’s Good to Be In the Legal Profession - If You’re a Man

    http://lawmummy.com/ 2008/ 09/ 15/ its-good-to-be-in-the-legal-profession-if-you…

Last week, the ABA Journal reported news that falls under “nothing new” - that males in the legal occupation make more than women. The disparity, however, was fairly eye opening. According to the journal, males in legal occupations earned a median salary in 2007 of $105,233. The median salary of women was $53,790.
