Aging is the process of accumulating an array of changes over time. In humans, aging is complex and entails many physiological, psychological, emotional and social changes.

It is generally believed that people acquire more wisdom with age, as well as a deeper knowledge of the past events that they had been a part of. While aging can be enriching and fulfilling emotionally and professionally, our society does not usually deem desirable the physical changes that occur with aging.

For this reason, people employ different methods of masking or delaying the physical signs of aging. Wrinkle cream, cosmetic treatments, make-up, adequate nutrition and relaxation are among the most common ways of improving physical appearance.

Moreover, the physicals signs of aging are generally considered more acceptable in men than in women, who sometimes feel a societal pressure to continuously look young, even as they age. Women are thus more likely to resort to age masking methods than men are.
